Ever
dreamt of making liquid soap from your home? Well your prayers have been
answered. This is a full tutorial on how to make liquid soap from home.
Ingredients;
Citric acid
Crock Pot
Lard Oil
Spatula
Coconut Oil
2
oils will be used, coconut for cleansing and bubbles, and lard for
conditioning. Many other oils can be used as seen in the table below based on
their lather, conditioning and clarity.
The
oils will be warmed with the crock pot on high, and you add potassium hydroxide
water mixture. You begin steering until it becomes thick. Don't just stare in
one direction, go left and right. Getting to the right level of thickness
should take between 20-25 minutes.
At
this point, turn the crock pot on low, and you cover up the pot, and you begin
the cook time. 30 minutes into the cook, you take the cover off, and give it a
good stir. You will. Continue cooking the soap for up to 3 hours. You will see
it go from a white potato-like state to a translucent jells like substance.
Every 30 minutes, you take the cover off and give it a stir, when stirring you
should try to make it as smooth as possible. When it is translucent, you can
move to the next stage.
For
a clarity check, you take 2 ounces of water to one ounce of paste, and stir it
until all the paste is dissolved in the water. If the solution is milky, then
you need to cook the soap for a long period of time, but if the solution is
clear, then the soap is fully cooked, and you can begin the neutralization and dilution
process. In boiling water, dilute the paste on a two to one ratio. 2 parts
water to one part paste then add citric acid to the crock pot. This will also
neutralize the soap.
Now
add the paste. Once the paste is added, turn the crock pot onto warm, put the
cover on, and let it dilute into the water, mash down the paste and make sure
it doesn’t cover the water, put the cover on.. This should take about 8-12
hours. 10 hours later, the liquid laundry soap is complete. At this point, you
would want to add any fragrances, and then bottle it up.
And
that’s how you make liquid soap.
